Who you are talking to
Carlingford Heights is a privately owned lodge, not a hotel desk and not a booking agency. Your enquiry goes to the people who actually look after the house, which means you can ask the questions that matter when you are organising a group — whether the dates are genuinely free, whether the layout suits your party, where everyone parks, and what happens on the evening you arrive.
Catriona Hynes handles bookings for the lodge and meets guests on arrival to hand the house over in person and run through anything you need to know.
Where Carlingford Heights is
Carlingford Heights, Mountain Park, Carlingford, Co. Louth, A91 X250, Republic of Ireland.
The lodge sits on the slopes above the village on the Cooley Peninsula, with Carlingford Lough in front of it and Slieve Foy rising behind. The centre of Carlingford village is roughly half a mile away — ten to fifteen minutes on foot going down, and a steadier climb coming back up. That distance is the point: you are close enough to walk to the pubs and restaurants, and far enough up the hill to get the view and the quiet.
Getting here
Carlingford is on the Louth shore of Carlingford Lough, midway between Dundalk and Newry. As a rough guide, allow about twenty minutes from Dundalk, half an hour from Newry, an hour from Belfast and around an hour and a quarter from Dublin Airport, traffic permitting. The Eircode A91 X250 will take a sat nav to the door.
There is ample parking at the lodge, so a group arriving in four or five separate cars does not have to think about it.
What to tell us when you get in touch
The more of this you include, the faster we can come back with a straight answer:
- The dates you want, and whether you have any flexibility around them
- How many people are in the party
- The occasion — a family gathering, a hen weekend, a group of walkers, a milestone birthday
- Roughly what time you expect to arrive
- Anything you are unsure about, from bed layout to whether the walk into the village suits everyone
Arrival and check-in
Check-in is between 4pm and 6pm, and check-out is before 12 noon on the day you leave. If those times do not work for your travel plans, ask at least seven days before you arrive and we will do what we can.
Rates and booking
Weekends are €2,100 and a full week is €3,200, with 10% added over bank holidays. A €300 deposit secures the dates and a €300 damage waiver security applies to every stay. The full terms — deposits, balances, cancellations and the damage waiver — are set out on the booking page.
Planning the rest of the trip
If you are still deciding, the gallery shows the lodge room by room, the accommodation page covers the layout in full, and useful information collects what there is to do locally. There are also guides to the pubs and restaurants in the village, hen weekends in Carlingford and day trips from Carlingford.
