Where can a group of 20 stay together in Carlingford?

Carlingford Heights is a six-bedroom self-catering lodge at Mountain Park, half a mile above Carlingford village, and it is let as a whole property — one house, six bedrooms, sleeps 20, nobody else in the building. It is a house to rent rather than rooms in a guesthouse, so the whole place is yours for the dates you book. Rates start from €2,100 for a weekend for the entire lodge. It is a ten to fifteen minute downhill walk into the village, with a steeper climb on the way back, and the windows look out over Carlingford Lough and Slieve Foy.

That matters for a group of twenty. One booking takes the whole building — the six bedrooms, the kitchen, the living room, the balcony and the deck — with nobody else staying in it.

Sleeping twenty across six bedrooms

Carlingford Heights is let as a whole house and sleeps twenty. There are six bedrooms — two of them en-suite — plus a main bathroom shared by the rest. That combination is what makes the lodge work for a large party: everybody is under one roof, and the two en-suites take the pressure off the main bathroom when twenty people are getting ready at the same time.

The open-plan living space

The centre of the house is a large open-plan kitchen and living area with a fireplace. This is the room that decides whether a group booking works, and it is the reason most people book Carlingford Heights: twenty people can eat, cook and sit together in one space. The kitchen is set up for catering for a full house rather than for a couple.

The balcony, the deck and the views

A large balcony runs along the lough side of the lodge, fitted with patio furniture and a swinging chair, looking straight out over Carlingford Lough. At the front there is a deck facing up towards Slieve Foy and the Cooley mountains. Wi-Fi reaches throughout the house, and there is ample parking, so a group arriving in several separate cars does not have to plan around it.

A half-mile walk into Carlingford village

The lodge sits at Mountain Park, above the village. The centre of Carlingford is roughly half a mile away — ten to fifteen minutes on foot going down, a steadier climb coming back. It is the distance that makes the property: close enough to walk to the village pubs and restaurants and back at the end of the night, high enough up the hill for the view and the quiet.

Who books Carlingford Heights

Most bookings are groups who want one house rather than several: family reunions, extended families getting everyone together, milestone birthdays, hen weekends, walking and cycling groups, and friends who have been meaning to get everyone in the same place for a year. The lodge is well suited to a party. It is not suited to events involving excessive noise, guest numbers beyond the party staying, or over-use of the property — tell us what the occasion is and we will be straight with you about whether it fits.
